REDCAR WOMANS CONTROLLING AND COERCIVE BEHAVIOUR AGAINST HER HUSBAND
A wife is accused of denying her husband food in a campaign of controlling and coercive behaviour.Nunzia Manning appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to face three charges.
The 63-year-old is accused of "repeatedly or continuously" engaging in behaviour which was controlling or coercive between January 1, 2023, and December 24, 2024.
The Redcar woman is also charged with threatening her husband with a knife in a private place and intentional strangulation.
Court documents state that Manning "assaulted and denied food” to her husband and “that behaviour having a serious effect on him and you knew or ought to have known that the behaviour would have a serious effect on him”.
Manning, of Deal Road, in Redcar, pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
The magistrates’ bench denied jurisdiction and transferred the case to Teesside Crown Court.
Manning was granted conditional bail until she appears before a judge at the higher court on September 19.
