NIKOLAY BRANTANOV SHOCKS ARBROATH WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT AND INDECENT EXPOSURE IN SPRINGFIELD PARK

A disturbing series of sexual offenses has rocked the town of Arbroath, with a man identified as Nikolay Brantanov, aged 23, now facing serious legal consequences after a series of alarming incidents in Springfield Park.

Brantanov, a resident of Arbroath’s High Street, appeared before Forfar Sheriff Court to answer charges related to these unsettling acts. Throughout the proceedings, a Bulgarian interpreter was present to assist him, ensuring he fully understood the charges and proceedings against him.

The incidents in question occurred on December 29 within Springfield Park, a popular local recreational area. According to court records, Brantanov first targeted a woman in the park, following her closely before making physical contact. He touched her arm and buttocks in a manner that was clearly unwanted and invasive, constituting a sexual assault.

Later that same day, in the same location, Brantanov committed a further offense by exposing himself to another woman. He did so by opening his jacket to reveal his erect penis, an act of indecent exposure that caused significant distress to the victim.

Following his admission of guilt to both incidents, Brantanov has been placed on the sex offenders register, a move that underscores the severity of his actions and the community’s concern for public safety. The court has deferred sentencing until July 17, allowing for the preparation of background reports that will likely influence the final judgment.
