REDCAR MAN JAILED FOR NEARLY 850 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A man named Nigel Stephen Collins, aged 75, from Redcar, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after police discovered nearly 850 of the most serious category of indecent images of children stored on his computer.Collins, a previously convicted child sex offender, came to the attention of authorities when Cleveland Police's sexual offenders management unit (MOSOVO) conducted an unannounced visit to his residence to check compliance with court orders related to two prior convictions for similar crimes.
During this visit, officers examined Collins's computer and found that he had accessed child abuse images again.
Subsequently, Collins was arrested, interviewed, charged, and remanded before appearing in court last Friday, January 24.
PC James Sexton from MOSOVO stated, 'Collins is clearly still a dangerous individual with an enduring interest in making or accessing child abuse images.
We work tirelessly to ensure everyone subject to restrictions and conditions are monitored so that any breaches like this are detected and dealt with.

The incident was brought to light when the police executed an unannounced check, revealing his continued access to illegal images.
The court sentenced him to prison for his offenses, emphasizing the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
