NIGEL FAREY FROM CORBY SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND ABUSE VIDEOS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Corby, Nigel Farey, a 39-year-old man, was brought to justice after authorities uncovered his involvement in the possession and creation of highly disturbing child pornography material. The investigation was initiated when officers from the specialized computer unit at New Scotland Yard targeted individuals engaged in online child exploitation, focusing on those who download and distribute illicit images and videos via the internet.

During a raid conducted in September at Farey's former residence on Clun Walk in Corby, police uncovered a collection of illegal material that revealed the extent of his disturbing activities. Among the items seized was a video in which Farey was seen simulating sexual acts with a 15-month-old toddler while fully clothed. This video was particularly alarming, as it demonstrated a clear intent to exploit and abuse a very young child.

Further examination of Farey's computer and storage discs revealed a total of 310 images depicting child abuse, many of which were classified as the most severe categories—levels four and five—indicating acts of abuse and torture inflicted upon children. The police investigation also uncovered that Farey had downloaded these images from the internet, unaware or perhaps indifferent to the illegal and immoral nature of the content. When questioned about the video, Farey claimed he had been merely 'playing around,' and in a subsequent interview, he admitted to downloading the material but insisted he was the sole user of his computer.

It was revealed during the court proceedings that Farey was fully clothed in the video, which did not show actual sexual activity but still constituted a serious offense. The prosecution presented evidence that Farey had developed a disturbing fetish over time, as indicated by the material found on his devices. The images and videos showed children being subjected to abuse and torture, with police confirming that Farey derived satisfaction from viewing such content and from the knowledge that children were being harmed.

Farey faced multiple charges, including possessing indecent images of children, committing an act of gross indecency, and downloading illegal material. He pleaded guilty to all charges, which led to his sentencing at Northampton Crown Court. Judge Patrick Eccles sentenced him to a total of 30 months in prison—one year for the act of gross indecency and an additional 18 months for the child pornography offenses, to be served consecutively.

The judge expressed his condemnation of Farey's actions, stating, "You have a significant deviant view of what adults do with children. There is material that shows evidence that, over a period of time, you developed a particular fetish. This is not an isolated lapse because you developed a deviant interest in children, evidence of which was found on your computer. You have come to derive satisfaction from seeing such images and from knowing children are being abused in this way."

Defense lawyer Nichola Smith highlighted the profound impact of Farey's crimes, noting that his life was now in ruins. She pointed out that he had lost his marriage, his job, his reputation, and most likely his home, emphasizing the devastating consequences of his actions on his personal life and the community at large.
