Nigel Burton, a 21-year-old man with a troubling history of sexual offences, has been at the center of a disturbing incident that took place in Northfield.Burton, who resides on Bristol Road in Edgbaston, was involved in an appalling sexual assault against a 15-year-old girl in Northfield Park, an area known for its community spaces and local residents.
According to court reports, Burton’s criminal record is extensive, with convictions dating back to 2005 and again last year.
His previous convictions led to him being ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years, a measure intended to monitor and prevent further offences.
Despite these legal restrictions, Burton’s latest actions have raised serious concerns about his behavior and the safety of the community.
The incident unfolded in Northfield Park, where Burton initially engaged the young girl in casual conversation alongside a friend.
As the interaction progressed, Burton suddenly pulled her aside into nearby bushes, where he committed a series of heinous acts.
He exposed himself to her, then coerced her into touching him.
The girl, evidently distressed, attempted to resist by pinching him in an effort to stop his assault.
However, Burton escalated his aggression by grabbing her around the neck, pushing her against the park’s railings, and issuing threats to kill her, which added a layer of terrifying intimidation to the assault.
The court was informed that the girl’s mother noticed her acting strangely after the incident, prompting her to contact the police.
The authorities responded swiftly, and Burton was taken into custody.
During the trial at Warwick Crown Court, Burton maintained that he and his friend had met the girls at a shopping centre and had agreed to go to Northfield Park, though he did not deny his involvement in the assault.
In light of the evidence and Burton’s prior convictions, the judge decided to remand him into custody.
