COLWYN BAY MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND ABUSE ON PARTNER
A man identified as Nicky Allen, aged 44, of Hawarden Road, Colwyn Bay, was sentenced to 18 weeks in jail after he admitted to attacking his partner.
The assault involved him punching his partner and pressing a lit cigarette against her face during the incident.
In addition to the custodial sentence, a five-year restraining order was imposed at Llandudno court.
Prosecutor James Neary described how Louise McAuliffe was pinned against a wall and her mobile phone was damaged amid the assaults.
The court heard that Allen had used significant aggression towards his partner and showed contempt for her and their children.
During the proceedings, the judge remarked that Allen had exercised a concerning level of unhealthy control and showed no respect for his partner, also demonstrating a lack of understanding for the impact on the children who witnessed his behavior.
Deborah Davies, representing Allen, mentioned that the offences were unpleasant and highlighted that Allen suffers from mental health issues.
