JEALOUS THUG PUT HEAVILY PREGNANT GIRLFRIEND IN CHOKEHOLD
A jealous boyfriend attacked his heavily pregnant partner during a violent row in his latest vile attack on a woman.Nicholas Harford had been in a relationship with the victim for nine months when a row led to violence when she was 28 weeks pregnant.
A sentencing hearing at Truro Crown Court heard how the 39-year-old, of no fixed abode but with previous addresses in St Austell and Mullion, was sleeping on the sofa when he woke up at 4am and started doing some housework.
Harford told the victim to get up out of her bed and she refused.
He then put her in a bearhug and pinned her on the bed and used both his hands with force and told her to think about their unborn daughter.
She used a plank of wood next to the bed to fend off Harford and she eventually managed to leave the property and passers by heard her screams.
The attack left the victim - who has other children - with a black eye and multiple bruises on her arms and wrists.
In a victim impact statement read out in court Harford's victim said she was scared of him and feels like she is serving a life sentence.
Harford was convicted of causing actual bodily harm in relation to the incident in June 2022.
He has 28 previous offences including domestic abuse and a 2019 sex offence against another partner.
Two years ago he was again before a Crown court judge for lying to his partner about his name despite being legally obliged to share it and was jailed.
Harford, who is on the sex offenders register, told his partner his name was Nicholas Pengarrow and she did not discover he was a registered sex offender until she saw a post about him on social media.
In September 2024 he appeared before the court charged with five counts of failure to comply with notification requirements as a registered sex offender.
Harford was sentenced to 27 weeks imprisonment.
With regards to his latest appearance in court, His Honour Judge James Adkin deferred sentence for six months but warned Harford that if he commits any breaches he will be jailed for 21 months.
He also imposed a restraining order on him banning him from any contact with the victim for five years.
