JULIA HORNER FROM MULLION SENTENCED FOR DOG CRUELTY IN TRURO
In a recent court case held in Truro, Julia Penelope Horner, a resident of Mullion in Cornwall, was found guilty of severe animal cruelty involving her dogs.The court's decision came after a detailed investigation into her prolonged neglect of a dog named Minky, which ultimately led to her being sentenced to eight weeks in prison.
However, this sentence was suspended for a period of 12 months, meaning she would not serve time unless she committed another offense within that timeframe.
Horner, born in 1965 and formerly residing in Helston, Cornwall, faced additional penalties as part of her conviction.
The magistrates ordered her to pay a total of £400 in prosecution costs, along with a £115 surcharge directed towards victim services.
These financial penalties are intended to support the broader efforts of animal welfare and victim assistance.
Furthermore, the court imposed a disqualification from owning dogs for a period of five years.
This ban was temporarily suspended for 56 days to allow her to make alternative arrangements for her other two dogs, a cream-colored half Westie named Baby and a brindle terrier called Boy.
