NICHOLAS BROOKS SENTENCED IN FAREHAM FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST SCHOOLCHILD
A former educator from Fareham has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of serious sexual misconduct involving a minor.Nicholas Brooks, now aged 71 and residing in Park Gate, previously served as a teacher at Meoncross School located in Stubbington.
The criminal acts in question occurred over a span of several years, specifically between 2008 and 2011, during which Brooks exploited his position of authority and trust.
The disturbing allegations only came to light after a woman, who was a student at Meoncross School during the time of the offences, approached law enforcement authorities in 2020.
She reported that Brooks had subjected her to abuse while she was a pupil, describing her feelings of being 'trapped' by the teacher.
The abuse was said to have taken place in multiple locations, including the school premises, Brooks’s private residence, and his vehicle, indicating a pattern of predatory behavior.
Following her report, police launched a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.
The case proceeded to trial at Southampton Crown Court, where Brooks faced multiple charges.
On December 13, 2023, he was found guilty of four counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor aged between 13 and 17.
These charges also included allegations of an adult abusing a position of trust to facilitate sexual acts with a girl in the same age range, as well as two counts of using his authority to incite or cause sexual activity with a minor.
Subsequently, Brooks appeared before the court on Friday, January 26, 2024, where he was sentenced to three years in prison.
The court’s decision underscores the severity of his offenses and the breach of trust involved in his actions, which have left a lasting impact on the victim and the community of Fareham.
