FAREHAM SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR GROOMING CHILDREN ON SNAPCHAT
A sex offender who groomed children over Snapchat and encouraged them to send indecent images has been jailed for ten years.Jordan Longhurst, 27, of Osborn Road, Fareham, was arrested on October 10, 2022, after police linked him to uploading indecent images of children and communicating with minors on social media.
His crimes took place in Fareham.
He incited children to perform sexual acts and recorded these interactions, police stated.
A mobile phone examination revealed images of child abuse and evidence of ongoing communications with children.
PC Sarah Tickner of the Internet Child Abuse Team (ICAT) said: "The extent of Longhurst’s offending is deeply shocking.
He persistently targeted young children online and encouraged them to share sexual videos and imagery with him.
Longhurst groomed and exploited these children for his own gratification, posing a serious risk to children." He was arrested again on November 9, 2024, after accessing further indecent images online.
He was charged with multiple offences but initially pleaded not guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court on March 24, 2025.
He failed to appear at a court hearing on November 17, 2025, but was eventually arrested again and changed his plea to guilty.
Longhurst admitted to ten counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, one count of attempting to cause a child to engage in sexual activity, and six charges of making indecent images of children.
These offences occurred between April 27, 2014, and November 9, 2024.
During this period, he created 138 Category A images, five additional Category A images between October 26 and November 9, 2024, 93 Category B images, and 117 Category C images.
He was also charged with failing to surrender to court without reasonable cause.
On January 23, 2026, he appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court where he was sentenced to ten years in prison.
He was ordered to sign the sex offenders' register indefinitely and received a 15-year sexual harm prevention order.
Police previously said he lived in Lewes.
