NIALL STACK CHALFONT ST PETER PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED FOR DECADE-APART ABUSE

In a case that has shocked the community of Chalfont St Peter, a 55-year-old man named Niall Stack has been sentenced to 20 months in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing two young boys over a span of ten years. The court heard that Stack’s actions were not impulsive but were characterized as deliberate and calculated, reflecting a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.

During the proceedings at Amersham Crown Court, it was revealed that Stack had performed a sexual act on one of the boys, who at the time pretended to be asleep to avoid further harm. The abuse committed by Stack did not come to light immediately; it was only uncovered nearly a decade later when he was found to have assaulted a second young boy, who was just 11 years old at the time. This second incident added a new layer of trauma, not only for the victim but also for the first boy, who expressed feelings of guilt, believing he could have prevented the second child's suffering had he come forward sooner.

The court was informed that the first boy had become increasingly anxious and insecure as a consequence of the abuse, which had a lasting impact on his mental health. Merrill Hughes, the prosecutor, stated that Stack’s actions had also affected the first boy’s academic life, noting that he failed to graduate from university, with the sexual abuse being a significant contributing factor.

As for the second victim, he became withdrawn and suffered from recurring nightmares, symptoms that persisted long after the abuse. Throughout the hearing, Stack was seen bowing his head and avoiding eye contact, often covering his ears as the details of his offenses were read aloud. His demeanor reflected remorse or perhaps shame as the court proceedings unfolded.

Judge Lord Parmoor addressed the court, describing how Stack had become infatuated with the first boy and had sexually abused him on at least two separate occasions. The judge condemned the acts as “deliberate, targeted sexual abuse,” emphasizing that Stack was “slaking your lust upon these children.” He further pointed out that the first victim blamed himself for the second child's suffering, which compounded the severity of the case.

In addition to the prison sentence, Stack will be placed on the Sex Offender’s Register for ten years. He is also barred from having unsupervised contact with boys under the age of 16 until further notice and will be prohibited from working with children for a period of 12 months. Stack had previously pleaded guilty to two charges of indecent assault on a boy under 14 and one charge of sexual assault on a boy under 13 during an earlier hearing, which contributed to the court’s decision.
