NEIL WEEKS FROM EAST ALLINGTON ORDERED TO PAY £145 AFTER ONLINE GROOMING OF 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN DEVON
In a case that has drawn significant concern within the community of East Allington and the wider Devon area, Neil Martin Weeks, aged 31, was brought before the courts in June 2016 following allegations of inappropriate online behavior involving a young girl. Weeks, a resident of Vineyard Terrace in East Allington, faced serious charges related to his conduct towards a 13-year-old girl, which included requesting explicit photographs for his own sexual gratification.According to court records, Weeks admitted to causing or inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity without having a reasonable belief that she was over the age of 16. This admission highlights the severity of his actions and the potential risk he posed to minors. The incident involved an attempt to groom the young girl through online communication, during which he asked her to send a photograph of her breasts, an act that underscores the predatory nature of his behavior.
The case was heard at Torbay Magistrates Court, where justice was served with a community order. As part of his sentence, Weeks was mandated to participate in the Thames Valley Sex Offender Programme, a rehabilitative measure aimed at addressing his conduct and preventing future offenses. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and court costs amounting to £85, reflecting the financial penalties associated with his conviction.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and judicial authorities to combat online grooming and protect vulnerable minors from exploitation. The community of East Allington and the surrounding areas are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
