GILFACH GOCH MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES AND EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY
A 58-year-old man from Gilfach Goch admitted to contacting a decoy, believing she was an 11-year-old girl, and sent her an explicit message asking if she wanted to be assaulted.During a police search of his home, officers discovered phones with indecent images of minors and extreme pornography featuring acts like bestiality.
Neil Ahearne used an alias, 'Danny Smith,' to communicate with the decoy named Dani, claiming she was still in school.
The online conversations, taking place between October 2020 and April 2021, revealed Ahearne’s enjoyment of sexual activities involving young girls and included requests for photographs.
He also sent an explicit image of his erect penis.
When arrested at a Birmingham hotel, police recovered multiple devices containing indecent images of children as young as 14, some involving animals and bestiality.
Ahearne pleaded guilty to attempting to communicate with a minor, possessing indecent images, and possessing extreme pornography.
He had prior convictions for similar offences dating back to 2004.
His sentence consisted of two years in prison, a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and a requirement to be listed on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.
The judge remarked on the disturbing nature of his conduct, indicating that despite the passage of nearly twenty years since his last conviction, his underlying urges remain unchanged.
