SOUTHPORT MAN JAILED FOR EIGHT YEARS AFTER ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR TOWARDS WOMAN
A man who subjected a woman to vile abuse over a period of many months has been jailed for eight years.Nathaniel Lockie, 36, of Station Road, in Southport, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today, Friday February 14, after he was found guilty of a sexual assault, assault, and stalking causing fear of violence.
Lockie was arrested as part of an investigation into his actions towards a woman.
Liverpool Crown Court heard how Lockie threatened the victim, would call her up to 200 times a day and assaulted her on one occasion.
In a victim personal statement read in court, the woman said: “I have nightmares.
These can be extremely intense and I wake up crying, gasping for breath.
“I often get flashbacks and several things will trigger me.
I’m on medication because I find it difficult to sleep.
The whole ordeal has been mentally torturing.
Detective Constable Lara Smith, who is the officer in charge of this case, said: “The appalling actions of Lockie over a sustained period of time would have had a huge detrimental impact on the victim.
“Thankfully she found the courage to report his offences, but despite the overwhelming evidence he still chose to deny the allegations and forced his victim to go through the ordeal of a trial.
“I’m pleased that a jury found him guilty and he will now spend time in prison to reflect on the long-lasting impact that his actions have caused this woman.
“It’s clear from her victim personal statement that the horrendous experience still affects her to this day and I hope she can now move past this knowing he is behind bars.”
