SOUTHEND-ON-SEA MAN JAILED FOR SEX ATTACK ON NEIGHBOUR
A woman from Southend-on-sea, named Denise Collman, has openly shared her traumatic ordeal of being raped by her neighbor, Nathaniel Bricknell, who was 25 at the time.She described Bricknell as a friend and someone she had known for roughly a year, perceiving him as helpful and kind.
On March 31 this year, Bricknell, who visited her in the evening along with his two children while she was on medication for bipolar disorder, forcibly assaulted her.
She recalls waking up to find Bricknell on top of her, despite her efforts to resist and push him away.
She managed to escape and immediately called the police.
The incident has deeply affected her, resulting in her losing her home and seeking refuge elsewhere.
Bricknell, her neighbor, was later detained and convicted of the assault, receiving a five-year prison sentence.
Demonstrating bravery, Denise waived her right to anonymity to inspire other victims to come forward and expressed her relief that she contacted law enforcement, even though the experience was extremely challenging for her.
