NATHAN SMITH FROM HOLLAND-ON-SEA SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In August 2017, Nathan Smith, a 27-year-old youth coach from Holland-on-Sea, was sentenced to seven years in prison after admitting to multiple child sex offences. Smith, of Fleetwood Avenue, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to 13 charges.Smith had been involved coaching at various sports clubs within the district. His admissions included three charges of causing or inciting a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity without penetration, specifically on December 28, 2013, and March 30 and April 4, 2014.
He also admitted to two charges involving a child under 13 for sexual activity by penetration, which occurred on July 22 and 23, 2014. Furthermore, Smith pleaded guilty to five charges of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity without penetration, with dates spanning September 28, October 12, November 17 and 21, 2014, and March 29, 2015.
Additional charges include three counts of causing or inciting a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity without penetration, on January 24, February 20, and February 22, 2015. Smith denied two additional charges related to the making of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child; these charges were left on file.
As part of his sentence, Smith’s computer was confiscated, and a sexual harm prevention order was imposed. He is also required to register on the Sexual Offences Register for an indefinite period.
