MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
Nathan Russell, aged 32 and residing on Scott Hall Road in Leeds, was convicted of controlling and coercive behaviour as well as sexual assault after a trial that lasted three weeks at Leeds Crown Court.
The court found him not guilty of several other charges.
Following sentencing on November 24, Russell was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
He will also remain on the Sex Offender Register for an indefinite period.
The case came to light after a woman reported domestic abuse allegations to the police, revealing her experiences to a family member.
The court proceedings revealed details of the abuse, which included Russell inflicting burns, smearing her with food, urinating on her, forcing her to lick the toilet bowl, spitting at her, restraining her with ties to chairs and tables, compelling her to eat from the floor or other surfaces, and physically assaulting her with a metal paddle.
