NATHAN MCKINSLEY
Nathan McKinsley admitted to pulling his partner onto his body and forcefully slamming the door of their residence in Guardbridge.
He previously pleaded guilty to these two charges in Dundee Sheriff Court.
The individual, who was shouting and swearing, prompted the off-duty officer to intervene.
The 29-year-old, with a history of domestic abuse convictions, then directed his hostility towards her, asserting, “You want to see what I’m capable of?” Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith responded sharply to this remark, stating, “He has two prior convictions for domestically-related offences.
One time, he assaulted her.
He’s been incarcerated before.
Perhaps he’s testing the boundaries of what I can do.” Defence solicitor Lucy Douglas explained that her client and his partner had been under heightened stress during the incident due to caring for an unwell family member in Edinburgh.
She also added that McKinsley reacted with anger after noticing his bank account balance was low.
As an alternative to imprisonment, McKinsley was sentenced to complete 80 hours of unpaid work and placed under supervision for a period of 12 months.
