FIFE MAN PLACED ON SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER AFTER CONVICTION
A 24-year-old man from Aithernie Court, Leven, has been placed on the sex offenders register for a period of 18 months after committing a sexual assault on a sleeping woman in Fife.Nathan Lee committed the offense at a residence in Kinglassie in April of the previous year.
He appeared before Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court for sentencing after admitting to charges of sexual assault and sexual assault by penetration.
According to court reports, Lee inappropriately touched the woman’s breasts while she was clothed and sexually penetrated her private areas with his fingers while she was unconscious and unable to consent.
The court was informed that the woman awakened during the assault on a sofa, froze, and indicated she was asleep.
The attack lasted roughly 20 to 30 minutes.
After Lee had fallen asleep, the woman went into the bathroom, visibly shocked.
The following month, she disclosed the incident to a relative and subsequently contacted Lee via social media, warning him, “I know what you did while I was asleep.” She explained she had initially woken up but did not understand what was happening, choosing to keep her eyes closed and remain still.
She emphasized she never gave consent and was vulnerable and asleep during the act.
Lee responded by apologizing, expressing remorse, and promising it would never happen again, acknowledging that his actions were wrong.
Later that month, the woman reported the incident to the police.
Sheriff James Williamson sentenced Lee to a community payback order including 18 months of supervision.
He also ordered Lee to live in approved accommodation and to inform his supervisor about any new social or domestic relationships he enters into.
