NATHAN DELGADO SHOCKS HARINGEY WITH CHILD INDECENCY CRIME
In June 2021, a disturbing case involving a man from Haringey has come to light, revealing the extent of his involvement in the exploitation of a young girl. Nathan Delgado, aged 49 and residing in Highgate, Haringey, was convicted and sentenced for serious crimes related to child exploitation and indecency. The case was brought before Wood Green Crown Court, where Delgado was sentenced on Friday, 18 June. The court handed him a prison term of two years for his actions. In addition to his imprisonment, Delgado was subjected to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order, a measure designed to restrict his future conduct and protect the community from potential harm. Furthermore, he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.
Delgado had previously pleaded guilty at the same court on Thursday, 8 April, to multiple charges. These included two counts of taking indecent images of children, three counts of creating such images, three counts of distributing indecent images, and an attempt to cause a child to watch a sexual act. His guilty plea marked a significant step in the legal process, highlighting the severity of his offenses.
The investigation leading to Delgado’s arrest was initiated on Thursday, 4 March, when officers from the Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Team, working alongside the Metropolitan Police’s High Tech Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at his residence. The search took place in Highgate, Haringey, and was part of a broader effort to combat online child abuse.
During the search, authorities seized multiple electronic devices believed to contain evidence related to Delgado’s crimes. He was subsequently taken into custody at a police station in North London. The following day, he was formally charged with the offenses of taking and distributing indecent images of children and was remanded in custody pending trial.
Forensic analysis of Delgado’s mobile phone revealed a disturbing collection of over 5,000 indecent images of children. Among these, 26 images were identified as being taken directly by Delgado himself. Further investigation uncovered that Delgado had been actively discussing the sexual abuse of children online, engaging in the distribution of illicit images, and attempting to groom a young child through online communications.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Haringey and across London to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable victims from online predators. Delgado’s conviction serves as a stark reminder of the serious consequences faced by those who engage in such heinous crimes.
