NATHAN DELGADO FROM HARINGEY JAILED FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES AND ONLINE ABUSE

In June 2021, a man from Haringey was sentenced to prison after a disturbing investigation uncovered his involvement in the creation and distribution of indecent images of a young girl. Nathan Delgado, aged 49 and residing in Highgate, Haringey, was brought before Wood Green Crown Court where he received a sentence of two years' imprisonment on Friday, 18 June.

In addition to his custodial sentence, Delgado was subjected to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order, a measure designed to restrict his access to children and prevent further offenses. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and whereabouts.

Delgado had previously pleaded guilty at the same court on Thursday, 8 April, to multiple serious charges. These included two counts of taking indecent images of children, three counts of making such images, and three counts of distributing indecent images of children. Furthermore, he admitted to attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act, a particularly grave offense.

The investigation into Delgado’s activities was initiated on Thursday, 4 March, when officers from the Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Team, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police’s High Tech Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at his residence. During the search, a number of electronic devices were seized for forensic analysis.

Following his arrest, Delgado was taken into custody at a police station in North London. The following day, he was formally charged with the offenses related to indecent images of children and was remanded in custody pending trial.

Forensic examination of Delgado’s mobile phone revealed a disturbing collection of over 5,000 indecent images of children. Of these, 26 images were identified as having been taken directly by Delgado himself. The investigation also uncovered evidence that Delgado had been actively discussing the sexual abuse of children online, sharing the illicit images, and engaging in grooming behavior aimed at a young child through digital communication channels.
