BRADFORD MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE
TWO men who each sexually abused children are beginning lengthy prison sentences.Mohammed Naveed, who raped a boy, was locked up for nine years.
Muhammed Afsan, who assaulted the same boy, received eight years.
Pair convicted of 'serious offending' Sentencing the pair at Bradford Crown Court, Mr Recorder Patrick Palmer said the attacks were “serious offending that obviously warrants an immediate sentence of imprisonment.” Naveed, 42, of West Park House, West Park Street, Dewsbury, and Afsan, 43, of Lynfield Drive, Bradford, were together convicted of 12 offences by a jury following a trial.
The court heard that Naveed had since admitted some limited sexual contact with the victim, but that Afsan did not admit to the offences, which were described as “consensual”.
Louise Reevell, prosecuting, told the court how Naveed raped the boy after first giving him cannabis.
He would also reward the boy with cash and vapes for other sexual activity as well as for exchanging intimate images with him.
Naveed was also convicted of sexually assaulting a girl.
Afsan twice had sex with the boy in the back of his car, for which he would be rewarded with money or vapes.
A girl was present in a front seat on each occasion.
The presence of the girl put Afsan in breach of a previously imposed Sexual Risk Order that prohibited him from having a female aged under 18 in his car.
The court heard that Naveed was of previous good character.
Afsan had four previous convictions for nine offences including driving offences and for supplying cocaine and heroin.
Sentencing Naveed to nine years’ imprisonment and Afsan to eight years, Recorder Palmer said they would each serve two-thirds of their sentences and on being released would be subject to licence.
Both men, who appeared via video link from HMP Leeds, were made subject to indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Orders and will have to register as sex offenders for life.
