STOKE NEWINGTON MAN FOUND GUILTY OF MURDERING WIFE
Muhamet Hoti, 44 years old and residing on Lordship Road in Stoke Newington, was convicted of the murder of his wife, Ganimete.The killing took place at their family home on the morning of February 11, 2013, where they lived with their three children.
Mrs.
Hoti, 42 years old, succumbed to stab injuries inflicted by her husband.
After the attack, Hoti contacted law enforcement, who responded around 9:50 am to find Mrs.
Hoti with multiple stab wounds.
He confessed to the officers by stating, 'I killed her.' Emergency services declared her dead about fifty minutes later.
An autopsy confirmed that she died due to multiple stab wounds.
The following day, Hoti was formally charged with her murder and brought to trial at the Old Bailey.
During the proceedings, Detective Inspector Euan McKeeve remarked that the verdict would bring little solace to Ganimete Hoti’s family and children.
He expressed satisfaction that the jury based its decision on presented evidence and emphasized that domestic violence is unacceptable and intolerable in any society.
He underscored that no one should have to suffer as Ganimete did and conveyed hope that the conviction would reinforce the Metropolitan Police's commitment to pursuing domestic violence offenders through legal channels.
Hoti’s sentencing is scheduled for February 27 at the Old Bailey.
