BISHOP AUCKLAND MAN JAILED FOR ATTACK ON WOMAN WITH CHILD
A thug who attacked a woman on a County Durham road as she held a child has been jailed.Worried neighbours called police shortly after 4.30am on June 12 after witnessing a man assaulting a woman in the middle of their road.
The woman was holding a child at the time and was trying to shield them from the attack.
Officers arrived on scene five minutes later where they arrested 25-year-old Moses Ralph, of Bishop Auckland, County Durham.
He was later charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.
Ralph pleaded guilty to the offences and appeared at Durham Crown Court where a judge jailed him for 14 months.
Detective Constable Helen Towns, from Bishop Auckland Safeguarding Team, said: “Abuse of this kind is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
