JUDGE BRANDS SERIAL ABUSER MOHINDER SINGH A VIOLENT MAN, BLOCKS HIS ATTEMPT TO OVERTURN RESTRAINING ORDER
A magistrate addressed Mohinder Singh, a man from Cardiff known for domestic abuse, cautioning him against portraying himself as a "nice man." Singh had previously sought to have a court order, which prohibited him from contacting his former wife, revoked despite a lengthy record of offenses against her spanning over a decade.During the hearing at Cardiff Magistrates' Court, it was revealed that Singh, aged 61, has a history that includes inflicting actual bodily harm in 2011, issuing threats in 2013, violating communication laws in 2017, issuing further threats in 2020, and harassment in 2022.
He has also been jailed four times for breaching restraining orders by reaching out to her.
Singh explained his desire to have the restraining order lifted so he could attend his son's wedding, where his former wife would also be present.
He claimed she no longer fears violence from him and stated that he had abstained from alcohol since January, showing evidence of minimal drinking.
His ex-wife testified that while Singh doesn’t deserve respect, their son does, and she expressed hope that Singh could be present at the wedding.
The judge commented that Singh appeared well-behaved during court proceedings but remains a violent individual who had harassed her for years.
The court agreed to amend the restraining order to permit Singh to be on the same premises as his ex-wife in the presence of their son.
Singh pushed to have the order completely lifted, but the judge rejected this request, referencing his past violent acts and breaches of court orders.
The judge warned him sternly: "Don’t try to come here pretending you’re a man of reason or a nice man.
You are not." It was noted that Singh had previous convictions for harming his wife and for violating restraining orders multiple times, and the judge emphasized that his current conduct in court does not reflect his true character based on the evidence presented.
