MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR ASSAULT AND KILLING MOTHER-IN-LAW IN DOLLIS HILL
Mohammed Yassin Yusuf, aged 32, has been handed a life sentence after being convicted of murdering his mother-in-law, Amoe Seline Stevens, by sexually assaulting her.The incident occurred at their shared address in Cairnfield Avenue, Dollis Hill, when Yusuf was left alone with the 64-year-old woman.
Reports detail that the assault was highly violent, with Mrs.
Stevens later succumbing to her injuries.
Court proceedings at the Old Bailey revealed that Yusuf’s wife had left him alone with her mother, who had experienced prior health issues, such as a stroke that limited her mobility and speech.
The attack began when Yusuf locked himself in her bedroom soon after she was left without supervision, and he initiated a sexual assault.
The assault was only interrupted when a carer arrived to assist Mrs.
Stevens with preparing for bed.
Noticing Yusuf’s hurried departure with blood spattered on his hands and shirt, the carer entered the room and found Mrs.
Stevens slumped in a recliner, with blood smeared on her legs and a blood pool on the floor.
She was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital but died later that day.
An autopsy showed she had sustained internal injuries and bleeding.
Yusuf was detained the next day and charged with murder.
He was convicted on June 2, receiving a life sentence.
Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh commented on the brutality of the assault and accused Yusuf of exploiting her health issues and communication difficulties.
The family expressed their sorrow at her passing, stating, “Our family will never recover from this terrible loss.” The investigation suggested that Yusuf might have committed multiple offenses against her, taking advantage of her impaired state, and raised concerns about his sexual tendencies and previous conduct.
