MAN JAILED AFTER STALKING WOMAN FOR MORE THAN A YEAR
A man has been sentenced to prison after subjecting a woman to over a year's worth of stalking and harassment.Mohammed Qasim Ali, aged 25 and from Burton-upon-Trent, received a prison term of two years and eight months at Stafford Crown Court on Thursday, 28 May.
He pleaded guilty to charges of stalking that involved instilling fear of violence and harassment.
The offending behavior occurred between August 2024 and September 2025.
In an incident in August 2024, the victim, a woman, retrieved her vehicle from a garage in Burton-upon-Trent and then proceeded to a nearby shop.
Ali followed her vehicle and unexpectedly entered the passenger seat while her car was parked.
When she asked him to leave, Ali responded with verbal aggression, causing her to drive off quickly.
Later that day, Ali damaged a window at the victim’s residence by throwing rocks and then sat outside in his car, sounding his horn.
Throughout that week, he also called her approximately 70 times from a blocked number.
His relentless behavior persisted into July 2025, when he was seen waiting outside a nursery for the victim to exit.
After she left the nursery, Ali followed her through the car park and entered her vehicle.
The victim ran back into the nursery, but Ali lingered outside and resumed pursuit when she tried to reach her car.
She called emergency services immediately, and Ali fled the scene.
He was detained shortly thereafter.
During custody, Ali threatened and racially abused a detention officer, adding to the charges against him.
