STEPHEN PRESTIDGE SENTENCED IN STAFFORDSHIRE FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST A CHILD

Stephen Prestidge, a 58-year-old man from Staffordshire, has received a 12-year prison sentence after being found guilty of several sexual offences involving a girl under the age of 13.

The court convicted him of four counts of touching the girl in a sexual manner, three counts of causing or encouraging the girl to engage in sexual activities, and three counts of sexual assault.

During the proceedings, it was established that Prestidge carried out these crimes within Staffordshire.

On December 13, he was ultimately sentenced to a lengthy prison term in recognition of the gravity of his crimes.

Detective Chief Inspector Helen Kirkland of Staffordshire Police praised the victim’s bravery, saying, “Firstly, I want to acknowledge the sheer courage of the victim and survivor in this case; not only for having the bravery to come forward initially but also for enduring the criminal justice system and the weight of a trial.” She also highlighted the ongoing commitment of the police and partners to combat child sexual abuse, stating, “Tackling child sexual abuse is a top priority for Staffordshire Police and our partners.

This is an abhorrent crime which has a lifelong impact on victims and survivors.” As a further precaution, Prestidge has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
