KNIFE-WIELDING SOUTH YORKSHIRE RAPIST SUBJECTED VICTIM TO A TERRIFYING ORDEAL IN HER OWN HOME
On May 11, Sheffield Crown Court detailed the case of Mohammed Naseer, a 30-year-old resident of Remount Road in Kimberworth Park, Rotherham, who committed a violent intrusion into his victim’s flat during the night.Naseer gained entry by climbing onto the balcony of the woman’s residence, then forced himself inside by exploiting an unlocked rear door.
Once inside, he brandished a knife taken from the victim’s kitchen, threatening her with it and carrying out two separate sexual assaults.
Prosecutor Gordon Stables described how Naseer first raped the woman and touched her inappropriately before granting her access to a toilet.
After that, he assaulted her again, raping her a second time.
He held the knife close to her face, allegedly warning, ‘If you do not do what I want, I will kill you,’ and forcefully acted against her despite her protests and pleas for him to stop.
Despite her screams, Naseer smothered her, while she experienced nausea and gagging throughout.
Following this, Naseer accompanied her to the bathroom, where he raped her once more, leaving visible bloodstains in the vicinity.
After about three to four hours, he packed the bedding into bin bags, warned her not to tell anyone, and said he would return.
The victim, who cannot be named legally, was able to contact help, and her friends found her in a distressed state.
The evidence showed extensive bloodstains on bedding and the mattress, with a nurse describing her injuries as some of the most severe seen in her career.
The victim has existing mental health conditions, including agoraphobia, anxiety, and panic attacks, and has now developed PTSD, with her condition deteriorating after the assault.
It was also noted that Naseer had visited her flat previously and made disturbing, threatening advances.
He has prior convictions and pleaded guilty to multiple counts of sexual assault, including two counts each of vaginal, anal, and oral rape, as well as digital penetration, related to the September 12, 2020 attacks.
Defence barrister Richard Thyne QC stated that Naseer has been diagnosed with schizophrenia but made clear there is no proven link between this diagnosis and his criminal acts.
Judge Jeremy Richardson QC described the case as one of the most severe and horrifying he has encountered, highlighting the cruelty and brutality inflicted.
The judge sentenced Naseer to 19 years in prison, plus an extended eight-year term, after declaring him dangerous.
Additionally, he was permitted to remain detained at Wathwood Hospital until such time as he could be transferred to prison, underscoring the gravity of his crimes.
