MOHAMMED KHAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES IN HEATON AND BRADFORD
In a case that has shocked the local community, Mohammed Khan, a 35-year-old man residing on Walden Drive in Heaton, Bradford, has been sentenced to a year in prison after being convicted of engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl. The incident took place in January 2008, during a period when Khan was experiencing personal upheaval following the breakdown of his marriage.According to court records, Khan claimed to police that he had picked up the young girl from Manningham Lane because she was dressed in a revealing manner and appeared to be cold. This explanation was presented during the investigation, but the jury ultimately found him guilty of the charges after a trial that concluded last month.
The court heard that the girl was reported missing at the time, and it was during police questioning that she disclosed the details of her encounter with Khan. The case drew significant attention due to the age of the victim and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
During the sentencing hearing, Recorder David Hatton QC acknowledged Khan’s previously good character but emphasized that he succumbed to temptation. The judge remarked that the girl had made advances towards Khan, and he noted that she was a notably mature and strong-minded young individual, possessing more awareness of the world than typically expected for her age.
Recorder Hatton also described the girl as a troubled young woman with multiple issues, which may have influenced her behavior and decisions. At the time of the incident, Khan was separated from his wife and was considered vulnerable to the temptations that presented themselves.
As part of his sentence, Khan is required to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for ten years. Additionally, a Sexual Offences Prevention Order has been imposed for the same duration, restricting him from working with children under 16 unless supervised. The case underscores ongoing concerns about safeguarding minors and the importance of strict legal consequences for those who violate these protections.
