NEWCASTLE MAN WITH OVER 100 CONVICTIONS JAILED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
A brazen bully who boasted "I burst her but she won't press charges" is behind bars for a shocking attack on his partner.Lee Meade subjected the woman to a sustained attack after she had been out on Boxing Day, punching her, strangling her, standing on her and pulling clumps of hair out.
The violent serial criminal, who has more than 100 convictions, had been released from prison on licence after serving an indeterminate sentence of imprisonment for public protection (IPP) for two offences of wounding with intent.
The woman, who had been in a relationship with Meade for around ten months, had gone out with her cousin in Newcastle on December 26 and returned home to Meade around 9.30pm.
In the early hours of the next day, police got a call from a concerned resident in the shared accommodation, saying the victim could be heard screaming for him to stop and that there were sounds of him hitting her and shouting at her.
Police attended and could hear her crying and saying "I told you to get off me.
You've battered me." When they went in, the woman had a bloodied and injured face and large clumps of hair had been pulled out.
The woman said she didn't want to get Meade into trouble but said he had hit punched multiple times, strangled her on a bed and she had fought him off by hitting him on the head.
He also dragged her to the floor, stood on her back and pulled her hair out.
After being arrested, brazen Meade, who had blood on his hands, said: "I burst her.
She won't say anything, she won't press charges so why have I even been arrested".
The court heard the woman did not support the prosecution but there was enough evidence to go ahead with the prosecution regardless.
Meade, 49, of Addycombe Terrace, [Heaton](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/all-about/heaton), Newcastle, has 101 previous convictions, including the IPP imposed in 2006 for two offences of wounding with intent.
He was still on licence for that offence and has been recalled to prison on it.
In relation to the latest violence he admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was jailed for 12 months but it will be for the Parole Board to agree his release given the IPP.
