MOHAMMED HUSSAIN FROM HARPENDEN CAUGHT WITH CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGES RECEIVES FINAL WARNING FROM COURT

In a recent development at the St Albans Crown Court, Mohammed Hussain, a 25-year-old resident of Harpenden, has been given a final chance by the judiciary after being caught with indecent images of children once again. Hussain, who had previously served time for similar offenses, was released from prison after a six-month remand period but was warned by Judge Andrew Bright QC that continued illegal activity would result in harsher penalties.

The case was brought to light when, on March 12 of the previous year, a police officer visited Hussain’s residence on Longfield Road, Harpenden. During the investigation, the officer examined Hussain’s iPhone and discovered a partially dressed image of a young girl. Hussain claimed that the phone was not his, stating, “My brother used the mobile. It isn’t mine.” Despite this denial, further scrutiny of Hussain’s computer revealed a disturbing collection of images and videos stored under a folder labeled “Mohammed Hussain.”

Within this folder, authorities uncovered a series of highly concerning files, including two videos and nine images classified as Category A, which is designated for the most serious content. Additionally, there were two videos and seven images categorized as Category B, and four videos classified as Category C, the least severe level. These findings indicated a pattern of possession and distribution of illegal material involving minors.

When questioned by law enforcement, Hussain initially denied the allegations. However, he later pleaded guilty in court to breaching a Sexual Prevention Order and to the possession and downloading of indecent images of children. Prosecutor Ann Evans provided a detailed account of Hussain’s criminal history, noting that he had previously been sentenced to nine months in prison in November 2012 for engaging in sexual activity with a female under the age of 16. Following that conviction, he was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for ten years.

Hussain was released from prison in May 2013 and returned to his home in St Albans. Nevertheless, in October of the same year, authorities found that he had again downloaded indecent images of children. As a result, he was subjected to a Community Order, which was set to expire on November 28, 2016. This order included a five-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) that mandated monitoring of his internet activity, including retaining browsing history on any device he used.

During the hearing, Hussain’s defense solicitor, Tim Clark, stated that Hussain had been in custody since December 10, which equated to a 12-month sentence. Clark also acknowledged that Hussain admitted to downloading the illegal material, which was described as a relatively small number of images.

Judge Andrew Bright QC expressed his frustration with Hussain’s repeated offenses, remarking, “Your predilection for child pornography has got you in trouble time and time again. You seem to have made a habit out of downloading it.” The judge considered the possibility of imprisonment but noted that Hussain would not receive treatment upon release. Instead, he opted to impose a suspended sentence combined with a stringent and comprehensive Sexual Prevention Order.

Hussain was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years. The order included strict conditions such as the requirement for monitoring software on his devices, a prohibition on using social networking sites, and restrictions on deleting chat histories. He is also barred from approaching females under 16 and is limited to possessing only one mobile phone or SIM card. Furthermore, Hussain will remain on the Sex Offender Register indefinitely.

The judge issued a stern warning, stating, “You have got one last chance. If you re-offend, you will face longer and longer prison sentences.” This case underscores the ongoing concerns regarding individuals with a history of sexual offenses and their potential to reoffend, despite legal restrictions and monitoring measures.
