MOHAMMED HOSSAIN FROM BELFAST AND CRAIGAVON SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES

In a significant legal case that has garnered considerable attention, Mohammed Hossain, a man with ties to both Belfast and Craigavon, has been sentenced to nine years in prison following his conviction on multiple serious sex abuse charges. The proceedings took place at Craigavon Crown Court, where Hossain, aged 52, was found guilty of a series of heinous offenses involving vulnerable individuals.

Hossain, whose address at the time of his conviction was listed as Sandown Road, Belfast, faced a total of 18 charges. These included indecent assault on a female, two counts of attempted indecent assault on a female, one charge of causing or inciting child prostitution, and two counts of gross indecency with or towards a child. Throughout the trial, Hossain maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to all charges. However, after a thorough examination of the evidence, the jury found him guilty on all counts.

Following his conviction, the court sentenced Hossain to a term of nine years in prison. The sentence reflects the gravity of the crimes committed and the need to protect the community from further harm. Additionally, Hossain will be required to register as a sex offender for an indefinite period, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.

Furthermore, Hossain is subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO), which will remain in effect for ten years. This order imposes strict restrictions on his movements and interactions, including a ban on residing or staying overnight at any address without prior approval from his designated risk manager. He is also prohibited from having any contact, association, or communication with females under the age of 16 unless explicitly authorized by the risk management authorities and social services.

In addition to these restrictions, Hossain is barred from engaging in any paid, voluntary, or charitable activities that could provide access to children or vulnerable adults unless approved by his designated risk manager. He is explicitly forbidden from contacting any of his victims directly or indirectly, whether in person or through third parties. The court also disqualified him from working with children under the provisions of the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults (Northern Ireland) Order 2003, aiming to prevent any future risk to vulnerable populations.
