MANS BRUTAL CRIMES IN CARDIFF LEAD TO 20-MONTH SENTENCE AND INDEFINITE RESTRAINING ORDER

Update 21/12/2025: Mohammed Ahmed, who has a long history of assaulting, abusing, and harassing his former-partner, also left a police officer with a bloody nose.

Mohammed pushed his former-partner into traffic and told her he hoped she died.

He has a long history of assaulting, abusing, and harassing his ex and had already served a prison sentence for strangling her.

Cardiff Crown Court heard that while the 36-year-old has not always co-operated with probation services in the past, that position has changed and he now has a renewed interest in his Islamic faith.

The prosecutor said that during April and May this year the defendant broke the restraining order once more by repeatedly going to his former-partner's house - on one occasion climbing into the property through a window - and approaching her in the street as she walked around Cardiff shouting and screaming at her.

Formerly of Corporation Road, Grangetown, Cardiff, but now of no fixed abode, had previously pleaded guilty to harassment with violence, breaching a restraining order, and assaulting an emergency worker when he returned to the dock for sentencing.

He has nine previous convictions for 21 offences including assaults by beating and multiple breaches of a restraining order.

Ahmed was sentenced to 21 months in prison.

He will serve up to half the sentence in custody before being released on licence to serve the remainder in the community.

Mohammed Ahmed, a 33-year-old resident of Cardiff, has been at the centre of a disturbing series of violent and threatening actions directed towards his former partner.

The court proceedings revealed a pattern of aggressive behaviour that persisted long after their relationship officially ended in 2011.

According to the court, Ahmed engaged in a particularly frightening incident in November of the previous year.

After spotting his ex-partner while she was out shopping, he followed her back to her residence and refused to leave despite her requests.

The situation escalated rapidly when he physically assaulted her, pinning her down on a sofa while laughing, and then grabbing her around the throat with enough force to restrict her breathing.

During this assault, he also delivered two forceful slaps to her face.

His threats of violence were equally alarming; he warned her that he would 'batter her' if she called the police, adding a layer of intimidation and fear.

The victim described feeling an overwhelming sense of terror, fearing for her life during the attack.

Despite being released on bail, Ahmed continued to harass her through persistent phone calls and messages.

He demanded she meet with him and issued threats that he would come to her if she refused.

These actions caused significant distress and anxiety, severely impacting her mental health.

Ahmed pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including assault, harassment, and breaching a restraining order.

It was noted that he had a troubling criminal history, with eight previous convictions.

The court was informed that the victim was genuinely terrified, expressing fears that Ahmed might kill her.

Her personal statement conveyed her deep fear, stating, 'I am genuinely terrified of this man and I am worried he will do the things he threatens me with...

I think he is evil and will eventually end up killing me.' In sentencing, the judge imposed a prison term of 20 months on Ahmed.

Additionally, an indefinite restraining order was issued to protect the victim from further contact or harassment.

This case highlights the ongoing danger posed by individuals with a history of violence and the importance of legal measures to safeguard victims from further harm.
