MOHAMED AMIN FROM CARDIFF SENTENCED FOR RAPE AFTER LURING STUDENT IN WALES

In a case that has shocked the local community, Mohamed Amin, a 39-year-old asylum seeker residing in Cardiff, has been convicted and sentenced for a heinous sexual assault that took place in January 2015.

The incident involved Amin luring an 18-year-old student to his residence under false pretenses, following a night out in Cardiff where she became separated from her friends.

During the night, the young woman dropped her phone into a drain, and witnesses or passersby noted her distress as she attempted to retrieve it.

A police officer who responded to the scene described her as being 'very distressed' and observed her trying to remove the drain cover to access her phone.

It was during this moment that Amin approached her, initially pretending to offer assistance.

Seizing the opportunity, Amin persuaded the victim to get into a taxi, claiming he would help her recover her phone.

Instead, he took her to his home, where he subjected her to further assault.

The court heard that Amin pushed her into a shower, washed her, and then proceeded to commit rape.

The victim's ordeal was compounded by Amin's subsequent flight from the UK, which delayed justice for some time.

Mohamed Amin, who arrived in the United Kingdom in 2012 as an asylum seeker from Egypt, managed to evade capture initially by fleeing to Ireland.

However, his escape was short-lived, as he was arrested in Dublin in April 2017 and extradited back to Wales to face trial.

At Newport Crown Court, Amin was found guilty of the serious charges against him.

The judge sentenced him to a total of 14 years in prison—comprising 10 years behind bars and an additional four years on license.

Furthermore, it was ordered that Amin be deported back to Egypt once he completes his sentence, effectively removing him from the UK permanently.

This case highlights the dangers faced by vulnerable individuals and underscores the importance of swift justice in cases of sexual assault.

The community and authorities alike hope that this verdict will serve as a reminder of the severe consequences for such criminal behavior.
