BEDFORDSHIRE POLICE OFFICER DISMISSED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT
A suspended Bedfordshire Police officer has been dismissed for gross misconduct after a panel ruled he had sexually assaulted two women.PC Mitchell Sharp was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour on Friday (30 September) following a four-day public misconduct hearing.
He was previously cleared of sexual assault following a trial at Cambridge Crown Court but was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour concerning the incident and an additional sexual assault on a second woman.
Sharp had assaulted one woman after attending a barbecue while off duty, witnessed by a police colleague.
A further victim reported Sharp had sexually assaulted her in 2019 and continued to make unwanted advances despite rejection.
He was found to have breached standards related to authority, respect, courtesy, and discreditable conduct.
His actions amounted to gross misconduct, leading to immediate dismissal.
Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Sharn Basra condemned Sharp's conduct, emphasizing the force’s commitment to tackling sexual misconduct and supporting victims.
