FORMER HERTFORDSHIRE POLICE OFFICER PLEADS GUILTY TO SEXUAL ASSAULT AND FACES COURT SENTENCING
A disgraced former police officer has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register after admitting to sexually assaulting a female colleague.
PC Christopher Rann, who served with Bedfordshire Police, appeared before Luton Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating and one count of sexual assault.
The court heard that Rann grabbed a colleague’s ponytail and forced her head into his lap for four to five seconds, with this act witnessed by another off-duty officer.
He also seized her neck and asked her to kiss him, stating: “Kiss me, I know you want to,” and later pulled her ponytail again, holding her head back for several seconds.
Rann pleaded guilty to all charges on August 6, 2025, and was sentenced to a 12-month high-level community order, including 15 days of rehabilitation and weekly reporting to probation.
He was ordered to pay £500 in compensation to his victim and £85 in court costs.
A 12-month restraining order was also imposed, preventing him from contacting her directly or indirectly.
Rann will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.
