DUNDEE TEACHER STRUCK OFF AFTER ASSAULT CONVICTION
Mike Barile was employed as a teacher at Lawside Academy in Dundee and was found guilty of assaulting two students in 2008.However, after appealing his conviction, the court granted him an absolute discharge, citing that he had been severely provoked.
Over the following two years, the General Teaching Council of Scotland (GTCS) reviewed numerous complaints from both pupils and staff regarding his conduct.
These complaints included claims of threatening behavior at Lawside Academy as well as at Madras College in St Andrews.
In the final decision, the GTCS determined that Mr.
Barile should no longer be permitted to work with pupils, resulting in his removal from the teaching register and a ban on his ability to practice as a teacher.
