MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AND STRANGULATION IN LINCOLNSHIRE
Michael Young, a man aged 35, living on Skegness Road in Burgh Le Marsh, was found guilty of raping and strangling a woman.
He pleaded guilty to both charges at Lincoln Crown Court during a trial that commenced in February.
The offenses relate to incidents that took place in July 2022 in Skegness.
Following a thorough investigation by Lincolnshire Police, Young was remanded in custody after repeatedly breaching his bail conditions.
Today, on 14 August, he was sentenced to seven years and nine months in prison, a lifetime restraining order was imposed, and he was placed on the sex offenders register for life.
Additionally, he received a five-year extended license.
DC Claire Chamberlain, commenting after the sentencing, expressed hope that the verdict would provide some closure for the victim, describing Young’s actions as barbaric and unacceptable, emphasizing the impact on the victim and the community, and reaffirming the police’s commitment to justice.
