MICHAEL WILSON FROME CHARGED WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND ANIMAL ABUSE AT BATH MAGISTRATES’ COURT
In January 2018, a man from Frome, identified as Michael Wilson, faced serious criminal charges related to the possession and creation of indecent images of children, as well as extreme animal pornography. Wilson, aged 49 and residing on North Parade in Frome, appeared before Bath Magistrates’ Court to respond to five separate counts linked to these disturbing offenses. The charges stem from activities that took place over a period of nearly seven years, beginning on October 27, 2010, and continuing until March 27, 2017. The allegations include the making and downloading of indecent photographs of children at an address near Bath. Specifically, Wilson was accused of possessing a significant collection of illicit images, categorized into different levels of severity. These included 3,050 images classified as Category C, which are considered less severe but still indecent, along with six movies depicting similar content. Additionally, he was found to possess 1,802 Category B images, which involve non-penetrative sexual acts, accompanied by six movies. The most severe category, Category A, involved 1,930 images depicting penetrative sexual activity, along with 15 movies.
Further charges detailed the possession of prohibited images of children, including 34 images and 10 movies, between November 4, 2016, and March 15, 2017. These images and videos were deemed illegal under child protection laws due to their explicit content.
Wilson was also charged with possessing “extreme” pornographic material, which depicted, in a highly explicit and realistic manner, acts of intercourse involving animals. The court heard that he possessed eight images and 12 movies showing animal pornography involving horses and dogs. Such material was described as “grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise an obscene character,” highlighting the severity and depravity of the content.
During the court proceedings, Wilson did not contest the charges; he entered a guilty plea to all five counts. The case has now been scheduled for sentencing at Bristol Crown Court, where Wilson will face the consequences of his actions on February 21, 2018. The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of illegal and harmful images involving children and animals, and it serves as a stark reminder of the serious nature of such offenses.
