FORMER FIRE OFFICER WITH PREVIOUS SEXUAL OFFENCES CAUGHT SEXUALLY ASSAULTING CHILD
A FORMER fire officer with previous sexual offences was caught sexually assaulting a child, a court heard.
Jeffrey Morris, 71, admitted to both sexually assaulting the child and inciting them to engage in sexual activity.
During a sentencing hearing on Friday, August 8, Bournemouth Crown Court heard how Morris assaulted the child in Dorset.
Morris, of Christchurch Street East in Frome, pleaded guilty to four counts of sexually assaulting a child and two counts of causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity in 2024.
The court heard that Morris managed a fire station in Dorset and has two previous convictions of sexual offences in 1979 and 1984.
He was jailed for four years and eight months.
Morris will be subject to the sex offenders register and a sexual harm prevention order until further notice.
Additionally, he was handed a restraining order from the victim for 10 years.
The judge noted Morris showed genuine remorse and responsibilities towards supporting his 96-year-old mother, and initially denied the offences but later admitted to them during police interviews.
