DONCASTER MAN ARMED WITH SAW ATTACKED HIS DAD IN FEUD OVER GIRLFRIEND
A man who armed himself with a saw and attacked his own dad as a feud between the pair escalated has been sentenced. The Sheffield Crown Court heard that Michael Spouse and his father had been involved in a series of arguments over his father’s partner.
On Thursday, April 8, the 22-year-old arrived at his home in Lothian Road, Doncaster, to find his father waiting for a discussion to resolve their issues.
Spouse, who was with his stepbrother at the time, was holding a three-foot wood saw and was apparently about to do some DIY work.
Instead, he followed his father who fled to a neighbor’s garden and picked up some bricks.
When his dad threw a plant pot at him, Spouse continued to advance.
A neighbor observed Spouse’s father in a fetal position, trying to protect himself with his hands, blood coming from his face and neck.
Spouse was seen kneeling over his father, still holding the saw and thrusting it at him, although the neighbor was unsure if the saw made contact.
The attack was described as an 'ugly incident' that lasted a short time, and the father later collapsed into the street, requiring ambulance treatment for injuries including a slash wound to his face.
The court documented the incident as 'relatively short-lived.' Spouse pleaded guilty to one count of affray and was sentenced to seven months in prison.
