MICHAEL SNOW FROM FILEY AND HULL SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS FOR DECADES OF SEXUAL ABUSE AGAINST BOYS

In a case that spans over four decades, Michael Snow, a 73-year-old man from Hull, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against two young boys. The crimes took place in different locations, including Filey in North Yorkshire and Hull, highlighting a disturbing pattern of abuse that persisted over many years.

Snow's criminal activities involved the use of card games as a means to manipulate and carry out his predatory actions. Between 2015 and 2017, he subjected a young boy from Filey to a series of sexual assaults, including rape and other sexual acts. The court heard how Snow's abuse extended beyond this recent victim, as a second victim came forward to reveal that he had been similarly victimized in 1977 in Hull. This revelation shed light on the long history of Snow's offending behavior, which had remained hidden for decades.

Following the charges, Snow was brought before York Crown Court, where he faced multiple counts related to his crimes. He was charged with six offences, including rape, sexual assault, engaging in sexual activity with a child, and inciting a child to participate in sexual acts. Additionally, he faced charges of indecent assault, attempted serious sexual offences, and indecency with a child. Snow ultimately pleaded guilty to all charges, acknowledging his guilt in the court.

In addition to the prison sentence, Snow was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, which is designed to restrict his activities and prevent further offending. He was also placed on the sex offenders' register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the public.
