MICHAEL NWACHUKWU SENTENCED IN LONDON FOR RAPE AND ASSAULT ON WINSLADE WAY
A 29-year-old man named Michael Nwachukwu, who resides on Canadian Avenue in London, has been convicted and sentenced for a serious assault and rape incident that shocked the local community. The incident took place on the night of October 15th of the previous year, when Nwachukwu arranged to meet two women on Winslade Way, a location within London. The events of that evening unfolded with disturbing brutality, leading to a swift police response and a lengthy legal process.
Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Nwachukwu had previously seen one of the women a few days before the attack, suggesting that he had planned the assault in advance. On the night of the incident, he behaved in an unusual and unsettling manner in an alleyway near Winslade Way before suddenly attacking one of the women. During this assault, he struck her over the head with a glass bottle, causing her to flee the scene and seek help from the police.
Following this, Nwachukwu turned his violence towards the second woman, using the same glass bottle to punch her in the head and face. The assault escalated further when he proceeded to rape her, an act that left both victims traumatized and in need of urgent medical attention.
Police officers responded promptly to the scene, arriving quickly and detaining Nwachukwu immediately. Emergency medical services transported both women to a nearby hospital, where they received treatment for their injuries. The case was brought before Woolwich Crown Court, where Nwachukwu faced a five-day trial.
On August 13th, the jury found Nwachukwu guilty of both rape and actual bodily harm. His conviction led to a sentencing hearing on November 15th, 2019, during which he was sentenced to serve eight years in prison for his crimes.
