DUNDEE MAN JAILED FOR INDECENT COMMUNICATION WITH CHILD
Michael McColl was sentenced after admitting attempting to communicate indecently with a child last year.He appeared in Dundee Sheriff Court and his actions included sending a video of himself performing a sex act along with sexual messages.
McColl spent two-and-a-half months engaging with a decoy account that appeared to be a 13-year-old girl but was actually run by an adult woman.
He insisted that he wasn't attracted to underage females, despite being caught in a vigilante sting earlier this year where he messaged a decoy account she believed was that of a 13-year-old girl.
He sent explicit photos and a video of a sex act, and continued to pursue the decoy despite being told she was only 13.
His messages aimed at gaining sexual gratification and included requests for explicit images.
He was sentenced to three years on the sex offenders register, three years of supervision, and required to complete unpaid work and participate in rehabilitative programs.
The wording in court described his explanations to social workers as a 'complete contradiction' to his admitted guilt, and he was placed on the register for three years, with his order to be reviewed in October.
