SHEFFIELD PERVERT TARGETED LONE WOMAN ON TRAIN BY "PANTING WITH PLEASURE" WHILE PERFORMING SEX ACT
On June 26 last year, Michael Lovell displayed aggressive behavior when asked to wear a face mask during a train journey from London to Sheffield, according to prosecutor Laura Marshall. The victim, described as a petite woman, later saw Lovell enter her carriage at Market Harborough, where he was seen rubbing his penis through his clothing.
Lovell approached her by tapping her shoulder and asking to sit nearby before choosing a seat across from her.
He then exposed himself and engaged in sexual activity while panting with apparent pleasure.
She attempted to activate the emergency alarm, prompting Lovell to apologize.
However, when he realized the alarm was non-functional, he continued.
He was eventually detained at Leicester train station, where he shouted racist slurs at an officer.
Following the incident, the victim reported feeling extremely anxious.
Sheffield Crown Court heard that police responded to a call to Lovell’s residence at sheltered accommodation on June 19 after he threatened a support worker.
Lovell was released on bail with a condition not to be abusive to staff, but police were called again on July 17 after he threatened to stab someone.
Ten days later, while intoxicated at Sheffield train station, he was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
During arrest, he kicked a police officer in the face, attempted to bite another, and spat at officers while in custody.
The court was informed that Lovell has a history of 27 prior convictions, mostly for causing nuisance, and has previously served jail sentences and been subject to hospital orders.
James Beck, acting as his defense, noted Lovell had served the equivalent of five months, but psychiatrists found no suitable alternative to custody.
The 28-year-old from Bell House Mews pleaded guilty to charges including threatening behavior, indecent exposure, and assault on emergency personnel.
Judge Anthony Hawks addressed Lovell, commenting that he appeared to be a vulnerable and disturbed individual with many intellectual difficulties.
Nonetheless, he warned that continued disruptive behavior would result in imprisonment.
Lovell was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Additionally, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed for five years, and he is to be registered on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.
