MICHAEL HOUGH FROM LOUGHBOROUGH SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN THE 1980S

In a significant case that has spanned decades, Michael Hough, a resident of Loughborough, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses committed during the early 1980s. The conviction was handed down at Leicester Crown Court on May 28, following a thorough investigation that culminated in a lengthy legal process.

Hough, aged 69 and residing on Ashby Road in Loughborough, faced a total of 11 charges related to his heinous acts. These included seven counts of indecent assault on a female, as well as charges of raping a girl under the age of 16, and two counts of serious sexual assault. The crimes in question took place between 1982 and 1984, a period during which Hough preyed on vulnerable young victims.

The case was complex and challenging, partly because of the significant passage of time since the offenses occurred. Despite the delay, the victims demonstrated remarkable courage and bravery by coming forward to share their experiences. Their testimonies played a crucial role in securing the conviction, and the court acknowledged their strength throughout the legal proceedings.

In addition to the prison sentence, Hough was also subjected to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, a measure designed to restrict his future conduct and protect the community from potential harm. The case has been a lengthy journey for all involved, but justice has ultimately been served.

Judith Walker, the chief Crown Prosecutor involved in the case, expressed her commendation for the victims, emphasizing their resilience and the importance of their voices being heard after so many years. She highlighted that the conviction sends a clear message that victims of sexual abuse can seek justice regardless of how much time has passed.

Walker also noted that the case involved the grooming, abuse, and rape of two vulnerable children, and she hoped that the conviction would help in alleviating some of the trauma inflicted by Hough. The community of Loughborough can now find some solace in the fact that Hough is behind bars, and that justice has been achieved for the victims who endured his crimes.
