MICHAEL DAVIS FROM TAVERHAM SENTENCED FOR DECADES OF INDECENT ASSAULTS ON YOUNG GIRL
In a case that has shocked the Norfolk community, Michael Davis, a resident of Lloyd Road in Taverham, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous indecent assaults committed against a young girl. The assaults spanned several years, beginning when the victim was only six or seven years old, and have left a lasting impact on her life.Despite denying four charges of indecent assault and three counts of attempted indecent assault during the trial, Davis was found guilty by the jury at Norwich Crown Court. The court heard that his actions had caused the girl, who is now an adult, to endure significant emotional distress, with her life described as having been turned into a 'misery' due to his repeated offenses.
On Thursday, Davis was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. In addition to his custodial sentence, he was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life, a measure intended to monitor and restrict his activities following his release.
During the sentencing, Judge Paul Downes addressed the court, stating, "You made her life a misery, she did everything she could to keep out of your way. You showed no remorse and I can give you no credit for your plea which forced the girl to give evidence." The judge’s remarks underscored the gravity of Davis’s actions and the impact on the victim.
Defense attorney David Wilson argued that there had been no threats or violence involved in the incidents, suggesting that Davis’s future would be a lonely one. Nonetheless, the court’s decision reflected the serious nature of the crimes committed and the need for justice to be served for the victim’s sake.
