MAN JAILED FOR ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE IN SEXUAL COMMUNICATION WITH A CHILD
A man from Barrow has been sentenced to prison today (8 May) for attempting to communicate sexually with a minor.Michael Creighton, aged 51 and residing on Vernon Street in Barrow in Furness, received a three-year custodial sentence for multiple charges.
Specifically, he faced five counts of trying to establish sexual communication with a child.
The court was informed that on 21 May 2024, authorities were alerted to Creighton’s contact with five different accounts, which he believed belonged to underage individuals.
During the period he was out on bail awaiting further investigation, Creighton was also served with a Sexual Risk Order.
However, he violated this order numerous times throughout the process.
