MICHAEL ANDRESSEN'S SHOCKING CRIME IN BARRY: DRUG RAPE ATTEMPT AT THORPE PARK

In May 2010, a disturbing incident unfolded involving Michael Andresen, a 36-year-old former girls' football team coach from Barry, who was convicted of a heinous crime targeting a young girl during a day trip to Thorpe Park in Surrey. Andresen's actions have shocked the community and highlighted the dangers posed by individuals with deviant tendencies.

According to court reports, Andresen lured a 12-year-old girl, who was not a member of the football team he previously coached, to Thorpe Park. During their outing, he secretly administered Rohypnol, a powerful sedative, into her drink with the apparent intent of incapacitating her. The girl, after consuming the beverage, began to notice an unusual taste, which raised her suspicion. Soon after, she became semi-conscious, and her condition deteriorated, prompting concern and immediate action.

Witnesses and the girl’s family reported that she was left in a state of shock and distress, having spent 24 hours in hospital due to the effects of the drug. The incident left her shaken and deeply traumatized. Recognizing the severity of the situation, her family contacted the police, who launched an investigation into the matter.

During the investigation, authorities examined Andresen’s computer at his residence located on Maes-yr-Ysgol in Barry. The digital forensic analysis uncovered a disturbing collection of 633 images of child pornography, some classified at levels four and five, which are considered the most serious categories. The court was informed that Andresen had conducted internet searches under highly disturbing terms such as “Lolita,” “jailbait,” “kiddie sex,” “child prostitutes,” and “schoolgirl fun,” indicating a clear pattern of deviant interests.

Andresen admitted to the charges, confessing that he was a paedophile who derived sexual gratification from viewing children. His actions and online searches revealed a troubling obsession with exploiting minors, which the court described as both deviant and perverted.

Judge Stephen Hopkins QC addressed Andresen directly, stating, “You developed a deviant and perverted interest in child pornography and you attempted to put that deviant and perverted interest into practice. You were waiting for the opportunity to drug someone so you could have sex with them. You intended to commit a serious sexual attack on that stupefied girl. Fortunately, that didn’t happen because she became unwell as quickly as she did.”

The judge further condemned Andresen’s actions, emphasizing the moral depravity involved. “What people like you with your deviant interests find stimulating, exciting or sexually moving, any normal person would find nauseating, sickening and upsetting. You’re not only dangerous, you’re evil.”

As part of his sentence, Andresen was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm. The case has served as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for robust measures to prevent such predatory behavior in society.
